LinkedIn has announced a number of new features to help content creators. These are designed to customize for SEO, increase visibility, and manage content and analytics.

Optimizing titles and descriptions for search engines

LinkedIn has introduced a simple process to customize content titles and descriptions, allowing you to control how your LinkedIn content appears on search engines.

Once you’ve created your content, click on Publishing menu in the top left, then Settings. You’ll then see a box with title and description fields.

The title field has 60 characters and LinkedIn says: “We’ll use your added SEO title in place of your article title for search engine result pages, such as Google search.”

The description allows a maximum of 160 characters and LinkedIn says: “We’ll use the SEO description in place of the first few lines of your article on search engine result pages. We suggest utilizing keywords, summarizing your writing, and aiming to write between 140-160 characters.”

Greater prominence for newsletters in search results

All newsletters will now appear in search results under the author’s name, along with a Subscribe button. This will make it easier for people to find and sign up to your newsletter content.

LinkedIn will soon be launching scheduled articles. Authors will be able to schedule posts and newsletter with the same pre-scheduling tools recently launched for posts.

Centralized analytics and content tools coming

LinkedIn also announced a new analytics and tools page, where you’ll be able to find detailed performance insights and creator tools all in one place.  This is expected to be launched in the next few weeks.
