Google Analytics 4 has launched a new Realtime pages report which allows you to monitor your pages’ performance as it happens. It gives you insights into user activity, which content is popular, and also allows you to spot any issues on the site immediately.
The report shows you active user counts and page views in the last 30 minutes. A bar graph breaks down active users per minute in the last half hour.
The table illustrates the following (with a timeframe of 30 minutes):
- Page paths and screen classes, sorted by views and active users
- Total views for each page or screen
- The number of active users per page or screen
Here's what it looks like:
Some of the ways you can use the reports are to:
- Identify your most popular content
- Monitor the performance of a new marketing campaign
- See the effect of new content on your site, blog or social networks on traffic
You can also use the report to detect any immediate issues affecting your site’s performance or user experience. However, it’s not a substitute for a full debugging tool.
